Commission Ragnell by Dekokatana Commission Ragnell by Dekokatana
This one took some time to do. My new toy (tiny CNC machine) made most of these details possible and I'm happy with the results.

Total length is 1.28 m
Total weight is 2.5 Kg

Every part is made from aluminium, just more parts are painted than I usually do, but now it was needed. Some regular black and silver colors and blade of the sword painted with candy gold. So it's more like lacquered than painted. It's looking nice and big thanks to my friend who painted the blade.

It's now shipped out and hopefully soon be in hands of it's new owner.

Edit 6.12.2012
Sword was commissioned by BlazeTBW for Streaks-the-Hedgehog. Thank you.

I see. I'll keep that in mind as I have a Cosplay planned in the future and this would go nicely with it. Thank you for your reply.

Ragnell have lot's of very detailed pieces and I have proper material for it in my stock at the moment. So I could make another one for 130€ +postages.

Wow, this is fantastic! And I must say that all of your other work is as well.
I was planning on building a makeshift Ragnell myself for my Ike cosplay, but now you've got me interested in this. How much would you charge to make another one of these??

Hey man, did you take this to a convention? If so, which one?
I'm just nervous that A-kon in Dallas might not allow me to tote this around. Their rules are very vague.

AMAZING!! You used pure aluminium? how did you go about shaping the whole structure of it with just aluminum?

Yes, every part is made from aluminium, as it's light and easy to work with it. I could have little bit "cheated" and used wood or fiberglass for some parts, but I tend to go " all the way, even if it hurts me" and I'm happy with results.

Ohhhh okay I see, so how much would you say that sword of yours weighs?

It's weight? 2,5 kg when I checked :) It's on the text, but I believe that this isn't heaviest weapon what I have done. Braveheart sword and Sauron's mace are pretty heavy, but not too heavy.

Thank you. It's going to be soon really hard to make swords what could be "better" than this :) It was nice project and I enjoyed to do this. It's main purpose in every project. To enjoy and relax while doing these.

Oh absolutely, absolutely. You should enjoy what you do, and your art will take a deeper meaning to everyone else and yourself. And you do a great job, you really do :) I can see you really put your heart into these projects. It's a pleasure to watch and see what more you come up with, and you've been kind when discussing them too ^__^

I have noticed that DA is best place to upload these pics and I have couple pics on FB too, but fed up with their anti-privacy and other things in there, so I removed pics from there. I don't like that FB owns everything what people puts into there.

Here is lot's of nice people who make swords and others loves to see them. Also I like to chat with "fans". Without them, I'm just another swordmaker amongst others.
