Dothraki Arakh 1 by Dekokatana Dothraki Arakh 1 by Dekokatana
Edit 4.4.2014. - This is old model, I won't make more of these and these ones have been scrapped. I will make new model of Dothraki Arakh what should be more closer to that what people have seen in the series. Deko -

First attempt for doing Dothraki Arakh blade from Game Of Thrones. I was meant to do just one, but then I decided to use whole piece of aluminium sheat what I had for these. So I made three of them. I can imagine how user of ARakh could slash, hook and even stab his opponent in battlefield. NOT using these of course.

Aluminium blade, pine wood handle and nylon wraping on the handle.

Like I have already said before (when uploaded these pictures), that with this kind of weapon You could slash (with outer curve), hook (with inner curve) and stab (with the tip) your enemy on the battle field. Simple weapon, effective on horse back and on close combat melee on the ground.

Of course these are just decorative cosplay stuff, so no cutting edge at all.

when getting that kind of weapon into your hands, you will notice very easily how it works.

Both are "sharp".

the arahk hase recently joind my wepon wall and I am a big fan of catching sword on the inside of the hook and slicing the blade across my current opponents chest or throat aswell as adding a bit of finness by using the curve like a scimitar or just going dothraki on everyone by charging headling into battle (evil heh heh)

Aye, I noticed how many ways it can be use when I made those first models. It can't beat long sword that easily, but it's still wicked weapon when used correctly.

it can easily beat long swords should one properly use it but that can be said about many weapons
personally its just fun to use but my proffered weapon right now its the "bastard rapier" a very long rapier I also created my own "water dance" based off cyrio's lessons with aria very brawler fencing  its fun

With aluminium, cutting, sanding and polishing is usually enough.

How did you go about making the curved blade?

I made those Dothraki Arakh "swords" when first season of Game Of Thrones came out. These blades are just hand cutted into their (curved) shape.

Later on, I got better pictures about Arakhs into my hands and these aren't even close of them. I had plans to make proper Dothraki Arakh to replace these. Someday.

Real swords, just made from aluminium, not for cutting or battle ready swords.

Thanks! I made these ones fast and maybe also a test for curved blade. It's not that easy to make and handle/hilt part.. I would want to make it by carving (like I did handles for the Twins). Maybe I'll make second version of Arakh with better blade and handle, but only if someone wants to buy it :D I have enough stuff in here to arm tiny army.

While I do note some flaws in the curves I must warn you that you are coming extremely close to violating the coolness limits of the sanctuary.

Aye, there is some flaws in curves as I had to do lot of things by freehand.. drawing, cutting, shaping and grinding. Not my best, but not the worst either :)

Oh, it there Limits in the Sanctuary?.. Maybe you should make a little competition in Sword-Sanctuary.. Coolest Sword(s) of 2011? ..competition time ends 31.12.2011, so everyone have time to try their best.

If we did a competition we would have to break it into skill levels. There are some people who would win by default.

Lot's of things and so it should be.. something to learn in the future :D

bytheway, I started to make needed parts for those sai's.. Need to shape them and then lot's of grinding. I have to use little tougher material this time, so it takes some more hours to do what I have planned to do.

Alkaa näitä kerääntymään nurkkiin ihan riittävästi ja tila loppuu, jotain on pakko tehdä :D Joko myydä tai sitten tehdä seinäteline.
